Only six kilometers north of the city, Brunswick East is a combination of commercial and residential properties that focus on and around Lygon Street and Nicholson Street.
Winning the best pizzeria in Oceania twice, and the world’s best pizza in 2014, 400 Gradi is a must for pizza lovers. For $45.00, the Bottomless Gradi experience is fantastic value.
Across the road from Gradi, don’t forget to check out Eydie’s. Chilled out vibes and a great outdoor area at the back. The recently revamped Bar Romantica is also a hit, serving late night pizza’s on Friday and Saturday until 3.00AM.
On warm evenings , the Gelobar on Lygon Street is packed with people buying their delicious house-made gelato and sweets and neighbouring Thaila Thai is busy all year round. Keep an eye out for the Taco Truck and Beatbox Kitchen food vans too; both hipster-hot spots frequently pick Lygon Street, East Brunswick to set up shop for the night. For a great burger and beer selection, head to the B.EAST on Lygon Street where their Tuesday night Trivia is a hit!
East Brunswick is very well serviced by public transport, with three different tramlines running along Lygon and Nicholson Streets into the city. There are also several bus lines running east-west through the suburb. The suburb is home to two government primary schools, Brunswick East Primary School and Brunswick South Primary School, and Our Lady Help of Christians, a Catholic primary school.
